How we started
thegunsite.com.au story
thegunsite.com.au is the brainchild of IT professional and very keen hunter and target shooter William Mitchell.
Back in 2016, William (known as Will to his mates and coworkers) found himself out of a job and at a bit of a crossroads.
Will decided to study and went on to complete two Certificate IV qualifications. Along the way, he kept refining his ideas around building a better, more user-friendly platform for shooters in Australia.
“I’m adamant that if done properly, this idea could be very successful.” – Will
One day, over a beer with his boss, Will mentioned the idea again. After seeing what other platforms were offering, Will’s boss and the wider team became convinced there was a better way to do it. That conversation became the spark that brought the project to life.
Will’s passion for shooting and hunting runs deep—so much so that a couple of his co-workers have even joined him at the range as guests. It didn’t take long for the workplace joke to start:
“Will is on a mission to turn the whole office into shooters.” – Will’s boss
